A Bumper Volunteers' Week
As ever, during Volunteers' Week (1 June – 7 June) we at One Westminster made every effort to spread the word around the borough and encourage everyone we met to find a suitable volunteer role from the hundreds available on our books. In all we spoke to several hundred people - holding eight events ranging from drop ins at local libraries to a extremely successful gardening day where a record number of 17 volunteers helped clear and weed part of St John's Wood Church Ground Gardens in St John's Wood. Also on the agenda was a stall at busy Church Street, while our corporate arm Time & Talents, held a corporate-community event that stressed, among other things, the benefits of volunteering.
Nigel Barber, Volunteer Service Manager said: “It was by far the best volunteers' week we've held for 10 years. the many highlights included talking to more than 70 people in the space of a few hours at our Church Street market stall. We would like to extend a huge thank you to those of you who took part in Volunteers' Week this year and to our own volunteers for the wonderful contributions they’ve made."
