One Westminster raises money for Grenfell Tower tragedy on #MyWestminster Day
On the hottest day of the year so far, at least 600 people came together at Paddington Rec on Sunday, 18 June to enjoy a host of free activities ranging from face painting and trampolining to arts and crafts and food from around the world. Organised by Westminster City Council, the event was attended by Westminster North MP Karen Buck, Lord Mayor of Westminster, Ian Adams, and leader of Westminster Council, Nickie Aitken. The Lord Mayor created a splendid t-shirt at one of the crafts stalls bearing the legend ‘We are One’.
“It was a truly diverse event and everyone had a great time. The atmosphere was empowering,” said One Westminster’s Paola Pagliarin, who organised 15 Westminster third sector stalls that offered a wide range of interactive activities.
Most importantly, One Westminster staff and volunteers were delighted to be able to raise nearly £300 to go to support those affected by the recent Grenfell Tower tragedy.
