Packed out corporate-community networking event clearly answers a local need
Hosted by Grosvenor UK at its superb offices in the heart of Mayfair, our second corporate-community networking event last week was full of local businesses and charities (some with stands) discussing ways that they could collaborate to mutual benefit. Organised by our employee volunteering team, Time & Talents, some 60 people attended in all. Organisations attending from the third sector included Greenhouse Sports, Westminster Citizens Advice Bureau and West End Community Trust and businesses included construction company Sir Robert McAlpine, accountancy firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers and investment company Blackstone.
Highlights of the event included an excellent presentation from Sarah Mitchell, CEO of Heart of the City, who reminded corporate representatives in the audience why doing good is good business. Amit Mistry from Westminster City Council explained how corporate contribution is recognised and rewarded with Westminster Lion accreditations, and Vicki Exall from Mercato announced the opening of the new Mercato Metropolitano in Mayfair next spring that will offer a community space that both school children and community groups can use.
Time & Talents Corporate Partnerships Manager Paola Pagliarin said: “The success of this afternoon shows that there is a clear need for this type of event where useful connections between the charity and corporate worlds can be made easily. We’re already planning two more networking events for next year.”
We thank Grosvenor for its generous sponsorship of the venue and the food, and Mercato Metropolitano for the excellent donation of bottles of Prosecco.
