Description

The garden is one of the few green spaces in the area and not only provides people with peaceful retreat from the city, but also essential habitat for urban wildlife. We garden using environmentally friendly and sustainable practices - recycling all our green waste onsite, growing the 'right' plants for the conditions, building insect friendly log stacks and rubble heaps - and is designed to feel like a patch of countryside dropped into the centre of town. We feed the birds year round and are visited regularly by range of species. The garden is home to a population of frogs and the pond is a magnet in springtime for parents and children who love the West End's only frogs.
The Phoenix garden is a volunteer-run community garden, open 365 days a year and concentrating on wildlife
