Description

At Help Counselling we have been proudly providing affordable, short and long term counselling to the local community in West London for over 50 years. During this time we have improved thousands of people’s lives, through the provision of talking therapies. We typically support people with a range of well-being and mental health concerns including anxiety, stress or depression. Our services are online and face to face in West London. As a successful and well-established counselling organisation, our team and trainees will be able to explore with you how we can make a difference to your life through counselling. Unlike some other services, you can work with us long term; this allows the necessary time and space to work through the issue at hand. The first step on your counselling journey with us is to complete a Self-referral form or book an Initial Assessment. Links to both can be found on our website. Our Initial Assessments are with a qualified therapist, are 60mins long, and have an upfront cost of £25 payable at the time of booking. If we both feel we can work together, a suitable counsellor will be allocated to you and will be in contact in approximately 2 weeks. More information can be found on our website. Please note: As our counsellors are trainees, Help is not best placed to work with you if you are under the age of 18, have an active addiction or if you are receiving care for a psychiatric condition. Help does not offer a crisis service or emergency response. If you feel that you are at risk of harm please contact the Samaritans for free 24/7 on 116123 or text SHOUT to 85258 or in an emergency please attend your nearest A&E.
Our work is carried out by 50 supervised trainee counsellors who are in their final years of a 5 year integrative psychotherapy postgraduate training approved by The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). They come to us with 100 hours of 1-1 clinical experience and, through working at Help, they are able to accrue practice hours towards their accreditation (550 hours are required). This enables us to deliver clinically approved service at a fraction of the cost of private and NHS services.
Where we differ compared to the NHS and other voluntary sector providers is that we can offer long-term support if appropriate. We can work with clients for up to 2-3 years. This is in contrast to the usual 6-12 sessions provided by the NHS. There is little statutory funding for longer term therapy.
