Description

The Advocacy Project is a charity based in London. We work on an individual, group and community level across different London boroughs as well as bringing national issues to the attention of decision-makers.
We’ve been experts in the field for more than 20 years. We began as three organisations, separately specialising in learning disabilities, mental health and older people. In 2012 we brought our skills, knowledge and experience together to form The Advocacy Project as it is today. Drawing on our strengths and expertise, we’re now developing new specialist areas to address unmet needs so we benefit more people more powerfully.
The Advocacy Project helps marginalised communities to speak up, understand their rights and make choices. Stigma, isolation and inequality are some of the biggest challenges faced by people with learning disabilities, mental health problems, dementia and eating disorders. We are working with people to address these challenges.
We believe everyone has the right to influence decisions affecting their lives.
We offer free, independent, confidential advocacy and user involvement services to people in London.
Together, we’re standing up for rights and supporting people to have a say on the issues that matter to them.
