Description

Language in the Community is a charity that provides free English lessons for adults and free English language and English literature GCSEs, with the aim of helping develop key skills and create brighter futures. We are proud of the successful events that we have put on within a number of communities over the past year, ranging from spoken word to acoustic nights, featuring both up and coming and well-established talents in the arts. We find that in many communities, London in particular, there is a lack of unity and cohesion and, more often than not, a language barrier plays a big part in this. Our free GCSE classes are part of the government’s push to make sure individuals have at least a pass in English language GCSE, to boost their future employment prospects. Language in the Community was set up with an aim to give young people who have an interest in teaching the opportunity to develop their skills with the practical work experience of helping run a classroom, whilst receiving weekly feedback, support, and guidance from our fully qualified and experienced staff.
