TRUSTEES

One Westminster has a strong Board of Trustees made up of voluntary sector representatives, private individuals and business representatives. Our Board is responsible for ensuring that we meet all our statutory obligations as a registered charity and company.

We currently have nine board members.

Laura CORDINGLEY (CHAIR)

Laura CORDINGLEY (CHAIR)

Laura is CEO of Chance to Shine, a national cricket charity. This role involves ensuring the charity is achieving its ambitions to spread the power of cricket to young people, helping them to play, learn and develop through the game and ensuring it is operationally and financially sound. Chance to Shine works with 500,000 young people every year. She has also worked for the Mayor of London, overseeing volunteering and sport initiatives across London.

Previously, at MCC Laura was responsible for the development and delivery of the club’s community strategy, which focused on supporting communities local to Lord’s, in particular those with inequalities. Previous positions held by Laura have included working at England Netball and Volleyball England, as National Partnerships Manager and managing School Sport Partnerships in the North East.

Sue Annis

Sue Annis

Sue has more than 30 years of commercial, operational and retail experience, having worked for large corporate organisations such as Vodafone, Argos and Shell International Petroleum Company, where she is currently responsible for the brand, retail operating models, capability and enablement across the globe

In each of these roles Sue has taken a personal interest and lead role in corporate social responsibilities, which have included significant fundraising for worthy causes such as Cancer Research, The National Autistic Society, Teenage Cancer Trust, Anthony Nolan Trust, Children in Need, Comic Relief and Jeans for Genes. 

Emma Sharp

Emma Sharp

Emma specialises in reward and benefit practices for a leading FTSE company where she is part of the human resources team. With a background in business support and development, she also holds an honours degree in Economics and an Investment Management Certificate. Emma is particularly interested in supporting young people to realise their potential. In 2015 she volunteered as a tutor to GCSE maths students.

In her spare time, Emma enjoys sports and has completed a number of distance running events while fundraising for a wide range of charities.

Shirley Springer

Shirley Springer

Shirley is the Chief Executive of Westminster Citizens Advice Bureau, a post she has held for eight years. Shirley has more than 25 years’ experience of the local voluntary sector and is committed to the ethos of partnership working in order to better meet the needs of local residents. As well as being Chair of One Westminster, she is also Chair of the Westminster Advice Forum.

Shirley values the importance of building a strong, local voluntary sector which supports and enriches the lives of some of the most vulnerable in our community. She is committed to the shared vision of One Westminster, which is to empower and transform the lives of local people.

Matthew Ayres

Matthew Ayres

Matthew read business management at the University of York after a gap year working for the John Lewis Partnership (JLP) setting up a Shared Service Division. On graduating from university in 2014, he went back to JLP to work for the Group IT Director on a large IT transformation project, before being poached in 2015 by a technology start up called Yocuda, which provides software and data solutions for retailers such as Argos, Debenhams & Halfords.  

In his spare time, Matthew works for his family business, The Bennie Group, heading up the IT side of things for the eight business divisions. He also enjoys running and photography, and is an avid supporter of Northampton Saints Rugby team. 

Edmond Yeo

Edmond Yeo

Edmond is a community leader and JP who is dedicated to many charitable and volunteering activities. He is the current Chair of the Chinese Information and Advice Centre (CIAC), a registered UK charity providing advocacy services and social enterprise for the Chinese community.

Edmond is also active in local politics and is a former elected councillor for the London Borough of Ealing. Recently he was Chair of the Ealing North Conservative Association and has held various other officer positions previously.

As well as being a trustee of One Westminster, he is currently a trustee of the Children’s Hope Foundation, the North London Chinese Association (NLCA), and the Chinese in Britain Forum (CiBF). He is a director of London’s Hua Yu Chinese radio station, sits as a magistrate at HMCS Ealing Magistrates’ Court and also serves on the board of Her Majesty’s Prison at Wormwood Scrubs.

Rahul Bhargava

Rahul Bhargava

Rahul Bhargava is the founder of Square Mile Training, a financial education training company. He was previously an investment banker at Rothschild and UBS Investment Bank in London. He has also worked for the late United States Senator Ted Kennedy in Washington D.C. and at PwC.

Rahul graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc. (Hons) degree in Economics.
