VOLUNTEER EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT

In line with the tumultuous times we are living in when so many people are losing their jobs, Westminster City Council has asked One Westminster to launch and run a Volunteer Employment Support project. This will recruit volunteers to support and assist Westminster residents who are currently unemployed to become more employable.

How the project works is simple – the unemployed person will be carefully matched with a suitable volunteer who will provide one to two hours support a week for up to six months. Support meetings can take place on the phone, by video call, or even face to face, social distancing guidelines permitting.

The type of support given to each individual will be tailored according to their needs. Areas where support may be given include:

  • Improving interview skills
  • Job searching
  • Refreshing a cv
  • Preparing to change career direction
  • Building confidence
  • Helping to talk things through

We can also help to put people in touch with local Westminster organisations that can help with issues such as housing and benefits. 

HOW TO APPLY FOR EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT

Organisations who would like to refer a client for support, please fill in this form and return it to One Westminster. If you are an individual you can also apply directly yourself by filling in the same form.

Volunteers needed

Would you like to help someone become more employable? Can you spare an hour or two each week for six months to support someone going through a tough time. We offer full training and a free DBS check. What’s more our team will support you for the whole time you're volunteering with us.

To be eligible you’ll need to live or work in the borough of Westminster and have experience of employment.
