In this section, you can find toolkits and sample policies to help you run your organisation.  You can also find information about local sources of support for voluntary and community organisations.

Sample policies are a good way to understand the different elements that go into making up a workable organisational policy.  In this section, you can find a range of sample policies, many based on policy documents used by Voluntary Action Westminster.

There are several sources of support for local voluntary and community organisations, including advice on where to find volunteers, and help with managing finances.

Our project management toolkit and strategic planning toolkit are practical resources for charity trustees and senior managers.  Available to download, each toolkit offers real-life advice and guidance.

  • Sandy Adirondack is a freelance management consultant and trainer working exclusively in the voluntary/not-for-profit sector. Her main specialisms legal aspects of voluntary sector governance and management, and helping boards become more effective. Her  website includes a legal update service which will help your organisation keep up with changes in the law. There are direct links to government guidance, regulations and the legislation itself.
