One Westminster's Learning Disability team raises hundreds for trip to the zoo

The weather wasn’t the best last Friday and as a result Church Street market wasn’t that full of folk, but One Westminster’s Learning Disability team members were determined to make a success of the day. Their aim was to raise as much money as possible from a jumble sale in the market to help fund a summer trip to the zoo. With support from volunteers, they set out their wares – two tables full of fantastic bargains ranging from brand new fashion and sports clothing to jewellery and children’s books and games. Huge thanks to all the people who generously contributed some lovely items - there were many donations from the Piccadilly branch of the Women in Business Network.

The result – more than £200 raised in just four hours. Project leader Najla El Busefi says: “It was a great chance for our project members to get out and about and deal with the public –  and everyone taking part enjoyed themselves. We are delighted with the amount of money raised – and plan to do more fundraising in the future.”
