Older People Providers Network Meeting

The Network is a group of representatives from voluntary organisations and community groups providing services for older people (aged 50 plus)

Agenda: To continue hearing about work of organisations working with global majority older communities - meeting Chaired by Age UK Westminster, Head of Services, Liz Tack

On: Monday 8 September, 11.00 to 1.30pm (Lunch from 1pm)

Background:

  • There are 26,200 residents aged 65 and over, a number expected to grow.
  • Almost half or Westminster residents identify as being from a global majority heritage, often facing additional barriers to accessing support.
  • One in three older residents lives alone, with approximately 11,900 individuals lacking immediate household support.
  • 1 in 5 residents aged 55+ reported feeling lonely, highlighting the urgent need for social connection and holistic wellbeing support.

These are hard hitting numbers and show how vital our work is.  The next meeting will be an opportunity for members to hear about the work of organisations with global majority communities.
