Dementia significantly impacts individuals and their communities, with a projected increase in cases due to an aging population.
- Dementia reduces life expectancy, with those diagnosed between ages 70-79 losing an average of 5.5 years.
- Westminster anticipates a 56% increase in dementia diagnoses from 2013 to 2033, with over 2,600 expected cases by 2030.
- Risk factors for vascular dementia include unhealthy weight, low physical activity, and smoking.
